If a single effect pedal was chosen to board a Voyager 3 mission and be solely responsible for showing the universe the sound of overdrive, it would undoubtably be Tube Screamer. Players ranging from The Edge, Trey Anastasio, Buddy Guy, Kirk Hammett, John Mayer, SRV, Carlos Santana and thousands more from every possible genre have utilized and depended on this classic iconic green box. In the late 1970's the overdrive pedal was arguably perfected when Japanese engineers designed the sound that we now know as the heart and soul of so many of our favorite artists, recordings and sounds. Beautifully designed and just so intuitive, this Pedal Projects Growly Overdrive/Boost Pedal is one that won't leave your board. Pointing to the right meanest that the overdrive is going into the booster. Pointing to the left means that the booster is going into the overdrive. The order switch (in the middle) points in the direction of the signal flow. Use the switch in the middle to set whether you're boosting the signal into the drive, or boost the volume of the driven tone. The boost side is the "Owly" booster, unaltered, and can be used on it's own or together with the overdrive side. Set it in the middle and you have the least driven and most open tone available.īest yet, the Body and Bias knobs act together to shape the drive greatly. Turn it to the right for a pair of small germanium and silicone diodes for a more compressed and driven tone - nice variety and really easy to use.
Turning it to the left dials in a pair of large germanium diodes for a more open and clear saturation. The Bias knob lets you dial in your clipping diode pairs. It's also great if you need to compensate for different pickups with different characteristics. For a really great, fuller sound, with more low end, low mids and more gain, just turn it up. If you want it a little thinner and brighter with a little drive, just back it off.

Body is a variable input capacitor, controlling how full your guitar tone is. The gain is an internal trimmer, and you use the Body and Bias knobs to dial in exactly what you want which is brilliant for gigging. Optional feature is an insert point where you can place any pedal or effect on the reverb and affect only the reverb. On top of that, it's buffered so the reverb tails out when you bypass it. Now you can set the reverb level, decay and an improved tone control. It's a great improvement to the previous version where you could only set the level of the reverb and the tone. The Marbleverb V.2 is a great reverb which will be available soon too. I can't wait to announce it officially, which will be very very soon. The Growly is a low / medium gain overdrive paired with the Owly booster for a great tone and versatility. The Klon will be in stock in about 2-3 weeks from now as well as I will be offering some limited models which I won't mention more about at this point. In other news, if you have a look at the website, you can see I have a couple of upcoming pedals as well as the Klon is out of stock. It's a great little 1590A sized MOSFET booster which offers a great tone and plenty of boost. So at the time of writing this, I have the Owly Booster in stock. I built around 400+ pedals in 2013 and I aim to double that number this year.
I will manage to keep pedals in stock as well as build the custom pedals. However, this change enables me to work so much faster than I used to before. For those who want custom pedals, the deal remains the same: I accept orders and build them but people need to wait 4-6 weeks because of the amount of orders I have lined up. Until Jan 1st 2014 I just accepted orders and built them but with my standard pedals, which are listed on the website, I only sell them as they're in stock. I make the drill labels, drill the enclosures, sandblast them, wash them, apply paint, laser engrave the artwork into the paint, build the circuits, wire them, test them, package them and ship them. I build every single pedal with my own two hands. Some of you might now that I have a pedal business called Pedal Projects.
